Suspect tries to trade fake $50 for $5’s | Federal Way crime blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Counterfeit currency: At 2:13 p.m. April 13 at 1207 S. 320th St., Safeway staff reported a suspect used a counterfeit $50 to pay for items three days prior. The customer asked for his change in old $5 bills.

• Stolen government property: At 8:33 a.m. April 14 in the 31500 block of 1st Avenue South, an unknown suspect broke into a parked car and stole a laptop, VPN key and computer projector. The items were property of the state.

• Involuntarily committed: At 3:07 p.m. April 15 in the 33600 block of 9th Avenue South, police responded to a location for a welfare check. A subject at the location was taken to St. Francis Hospital for a mental health evaluation. Upon searching the person’s belongings, 40 grams of suspected cocaine were found. The subject was booked into jail after he or she was finished at the hospital.

• Fake emergency calls: At 4:42 a.m. April 15 in the 34700 block of 16th Avenue South, a suspect was arrested after making a series of falls calls referencing sexual activities to the Valley Communications 911 dispatch center.

• Immigration warrant: At 10:52 p.m. April 16 in the 32000 block of 1st Avenue South, a suspect was stopped for a traffic violation. Records showed the suspect had an active immigration warrant. The suspect was arrested and an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent took custody of the suspect.

• Domestic violence: At 8:01 a.m. April 17 in the 1700 block of Southwest 309th Street, a suspect punched and slapped a victim in the face several times, then attempted to suffocate the victim and kicked her in the face.

• Offensive vandalism: At 3:01 p.m. April 18 in the 33000 block of 18th Place South, victims found paint splattered on their vehicles, exterior apartment walls and sliding glass doors. Offensive and derogatory symbols were also painted on the items.

• Unresponsive patron: At 10:05 a.m. April 18 in the 2400 block of Southwest 336th Street, an unresponsive male was located in a fast food restaurant’s bathroom. An open container of alcohol was found nearby. The man was involuntarily committed to St. Francis Hospital and cited for the open container of alcohol.
