Federal Way couple found dead in hot tub

Police responded to a residence in the 34900 block of 26th Ave. S,. just outside of Federal Way, at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 18 after a woman called saying she hadn't been able to get in contact with the homeowner in the past 24 hours.

She had gone to the residence and found a man and a woman, both dead, in a backyard hot tub.

The King County Sheriff’s Office responded and began an investigation into the case.

Neither of the deceased — Paul A. Craig, 50, and Karen P. Rowland, 42 — had any apparent injuries. There was no sign of homicidal violence or suicide.

Investigators ruled the death as accidental, said Sgt. John Urquhart.

Urquhart said the two people were not married and the department is looking into their relationship, but that information in considered immaterial regarding the investigation.
