Men’s basketball

Cole Dickerson — The 2010 Federal Way grad is playing his junior season at the University of San Francisco and leading the Dons in scoring and rebounding. The 6-foot-7 forward has started all 13 of the Dons’ games this year and is averaging 15.4 points and 11.9 rebounds a game. The rebounding total ranks third in the nation and leads the West Coast Conference.

San Francisco is 7-6 on the year. Last year, Dickerson played in all 30 USF games averaged 6.5 points and 3.6 rebounds for the Dons.

Michael Hale III — The Federal Way High School graduate is playing his senior season at the University of Texas-San Antonio. The 5-foot-8 point guard transferred after playing two seasons at North Idaho College.

Hale is averaging 14.8 points, 3.4 assists for the Roadrunners, who are 4-8 on the year.

Last year, Hale III averaged 9.9 points and started 24 games for the Roadrunners. During his time at North Idaho, Hale III was second in the Scenic West Athletic Conference averaging 18.2 points and 4.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game as a sophomore.

Jeffrey Forbes — The 2009 Federal Way grad is playing his senior year at Eastern Washington University. The point guard has started 11 games this season and is averaging 5.1 points and 1.8 rebounds. Eastern is 3-9 on the season.

Last year, Forbes started all 30 of the Eagles’ games and averaged 6.5 points and 2.8 rebounds. The Eagles finished fourth in the Big Sky Conference during the regular season. As a sophomore, Forbes started 23 games and averaged 9.8 points and 2.6 rebounds a game. As a true freshman, Forbes averaged 10.5 points a game.

Cam Schilling — The 2009 Decatur graduate is playing his senior season at Pacific Lutheran University and is leading the Lutes in scoring and rebounding. Schilling is averaging 12.6 points and 6.8 rebounds a game for the 2-9 Lutes. He is a 6-foot-4 forward.

Last season, Schilling started all 25 games and averaged 13.3 points and 6.8 rebounds for the Lutes, who were 12-13. He was an honorable mention, All-Northwest Conference selection.

Travis Wagner — The Decatur High School grad is playing his senior season at at Evergreen State University for the Geoducks. The 6-foot-4 forward is averaging 8.6 points and 2.5 rebounds for 2-11 Evergreen. Last year, he averaged 8.0 points and 4.1 rebounds a game. Evergreen State finished 1-26 last year.

Eric Radford — The 2010 Thomas Jefferson grad is playing his junior season at the University of Redlands in California. The 6-foot-5 forward is averaging 7.1 points and 4.6 rebounds a game. The Bulldogs are 8-4 on the season. Last year, Radford started 24 games and averaged 4.7 points and 2.3 rebounds a game for the 13-13 Bulldogs.

Xavyr Moss — The Jefferson grad is playing his junior season at Pomona-Pitzer College in California. He took off the 2012 season to study abroad and teach English in Beijing, China.

This year, he is averaging 11.0 points and 3.0 rebounds for the 7-3 Sagehens. During his sophomore season in 2011, Moss was a first-team, All-SCIAC selection after leading the Sagehens in scoring.

Isiah Umipig — The Federal Way High School grad is sitting out to the season after transferring to Seattle University. The 6-foot guard played the last two seasons at Cal-State Fullerton after standout career at Federal Way. Umipig has to sit out the 2012-13 season due to NCAA transfer rules, but is practicing with the team. He will have two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2013-14.

Jerron Smith — The Decatur grad is now playing at Highline Community College after transferring from Portland State. The 6-foot-3 guard is leading the team at 15.2 points a game. Last year, Smith played in nine games for Portland State and averaged 2.4 points. Smith is a sophomore this season at Highline.

Marcus Tibbs — The Decatur grad is starring at Bellevue Community College. The guard is playing his sophomore season for the Helmsmen and is fourth in the NWAACC in scoring, averaging 21.4 points a game. Bellevue is currently 8-4 on the season and ranked fifth in the NWAACC.

Women’s basketball

Talia Walton — The Federal Way grad is currently playing her redshirt freshman season at the University of Washington. Last year, as a true freshman, Walton played in one game before deciding to redshirt.

The 6-foot-2 forward has started all 11 games this season for the Huskies and is second on the team, averaging 12.5 points and 6.4 rebounds a game. Washington is 8-3 on the season. Walton had knee surgery a month before the season started.

While at Federal Way, Walton was named the Associated Press Class 4A Washington Prep Girls Basketball Player of the Year after leading the Eagles to the state title game. Walton averaged 17 points and close to 13 rebounds per game.

Darah Huertas-Vining — The Federal Way grad is sitting out her freshman season at the University of Great Falls Montana. The point guard broke her leg during the first game of the season after scoring five points during a win over the University of Lethbridge.
