Eastern Washington University golfer Jayme Carbon ended her career in style recently. The Thomas Jefferson graduate shot her lowest score of the season in the final round of the 2013 Big Sky Championship in Chandler, Ariz, at Ocotillo Resort.
Carbon led the way for EWU on the final day, recording her first-ever score under-par with a 69. She converted seven birdies and seven pars on the day and had a three-round total of 220, just four over-par and a career-best by 10 strokes. That effort earned Carbon a top-ten finish at the Big Sky Championship, as she tied for ninth-place overall.
“I was really happy for Jayme to go out on a high note,” said EWU head coach Brenda Howe.
The Eagles climbed into sixth place on the day, moving ahead of seventh-place Weber State (915). That put an end to Eastern’s four-year streak of eighth-place finishes at the tournament. Northern Arizona won the team title.
