According to South King Fire and Rescue, a brush fire measuring one-tenth of an acre on both sides of the BPA Trail in Federal Way was extinguished about 10 p.m. Aug. 29. Probable cause was discarded ashes from a match or cigarette. About 11 a.m. Monday, a brush fire along the northbound side of Interstate 5, just south of the Highway 18 exit, was extinguished by firefighters. Probable cause was discarded ashes by an unknown person on the freeway.
