Federal Way boys place seven, girls bring home 4A wrestling champion

The Federal Way high schools had seven boys finish in the top eight at the Mat Classic 4A boys state wrestling tournament Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.

The Federal Way high schools had seven boys finish in the top eight at the Mat Classic 4A boys state wrestling tournament Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.

Decatur

The Golden Gators boys wrestling team finished 10th with a score of 63 with three grapplers standing in the top eight in the state.

Isaiah Diggs took the silver medal in the 152-pound weight class.

Diggs beat Justin Edens from Mount Si 11-4 in the semifinal.

In the championship round Diggs was pinned by Ty Wilson at 5 minutes, 59 seconds.

Junior Leviticus Aripze took third in the 132-weight class pinning Andrew Boharski from Mead in 3:23.

Senior Aj Sarno at 182 finished fourth. Sarno lost a tight 8-7 decision to Jon Bridgman from Curtis who took third.

The Titans team came in 14th scoring 46 points with two wrestlers placing in the top eight.

Junior Mitchell Owens took third in the 170-pound class.

At 145 Sean Van Earwage finished fourth.

Federal Way

The Federal Way team came in 29th scoring 20.5 with one wrestler finishing in the top eight.

Andrzej Hughes-Murray took third in the 220-pound division.

Hughes-Murray pinned Tyler Rickel from University in 1:51 in the third place match.

Girls Wrestling

Federal Way high schools had seven girls in the top eight at the Mat Classic including a state champion from Todd Beamer.

Senior Daiza Vann won the gold in the 170 pound class pinning teammate Vanessa Dixon in the finals in 43 seconds.

Dixon brought home the silver.

Senior Arian Carpio took the silver at 130 pounds.

Junior Hailie Parker took sixth at the 235 weight.

 

 

Federal Way

Tally Thomas from Federal Way finished fifth at 170 pounds.

Decatur

Auna Carpio took fourth place at the 115 pound class.

Glaysia Sparling finished in eighth at 190.
