Jazz saxophonist Neamen Lyles will perform a free all-ages show from 5 to 7 p.m. April 14 at Marine View Church, 8469 Eastside Drive NE, Tacoma.

With the release of his debut CD “So Free” comes the national notoriety for the Tucson-based musician. Having already shared the stage and recording studio with the likes of Jeff Lorber, Brian Simpson, Jay Soto and Mel Brown, Lyles was influenced by sax giants Charlie Parker, Grover Washington, Gerald Albright and Eric Marienthal. He has honed a sound that reflects his endless hours of practice and rehearsals. He now gives back through his mentoring of young musicians at the Arizona Jazz Institute.

For his appearance at Jazz LIVE at Marine View, he’ll be joined onstage by four outstanding musicians in their own right: Osama Afifi on bass, Eugene Bien on keyboards, Frank Seeberger on guitar and Dave Austin on drums. This will be Neamen’s debut in the Northwest.

Patrons will have the opportunity to support the efforts of the Guatemala mission team, as they leave April 18 on their annual pilgrimage to remote mountain villages in Guatemala. The goal this year is to install 110 stoves to dramatically improve the quality of air and life for villagers. Donations will be taken to assist in the purchase of the stoves.
