Federal Way was awarded $5 million this legislative session to put toward a performing arts, culture and conference center. The Federal Way arts coalition, a grass-roots group directed by resident Joann Piquette, also received $325,000 from the Legislature to be used toward establishing the venue. The city captured $500,000 to be used toward the performance hall’s pre-construction from the 2008 legislative session.
The city is spending part of the 2008 money to contract a site review and concepts on how an arts, culture and conference center could look. The Federal Way City Council plans to review the contractor’s work by late July, city spokeswoman Linda Farmer said.
