The Thomas Jefferson Raider softball team continued its hot play in the South Puget Sound League North Division. The Raiders moved to 10-2 in league play by winning a pair of one-run games over Kentwood Tuesday and Wednesday.
Jefferson beat the Conquerors Tuesday, 4-3, and came back the next day for a 9-8 victory.
Wednesday, the Raiders tallied two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to overcome an 8-7 Kentwood lead. The Conks scored five runs in their final two at bats to take the advantage.
Annalise Campbell finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run and Katie Jackson was 1 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and a run. Jackson also won the game on the mound.
On Tuesday, Jackson held Kentwood to seven hits and Campbell had two more hits and scored two runs for TJ. Lexi Goranson finished 2 for 4 with a run, RBI and two stolen bases.
Beamer
The Titans (8-7) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead on the Rogers Rams Monday afternoon. But Rogers rallied to beat Beamer, 13-4, in the first game of a double-header Monday. Rogers also beat the Titans, 18-10, in the nightcap.
But Beamer bounced back Wednesday, sweeping a double-header from Graham-Kapowsin. The Titans won 11-3 and 19-0.
Halle Colson and Kelsey McDonnell both finished with three RBIs apiece in the opener. Colson had three more RBIs and scored four runs in the second game and Naomi Lee was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs.
Federal Way
The Eagles (0-13) gave up just two hits during a 4-0 loss to Curtis Tuesday. Kayla Quiroga suffered the tough luck loss on the mound for Federal Way. Margaret Malaki finished 3 for 4 with a double.
Decatur
The Gators (0-10) were shutout 10-0 by the Peninsula Seahawks Tuesday, 10-0. Decatur had just one hit during the game.
Tennis
Jefferson
The Raiders will not be the SPSL Central Division champs again this season. The Auburn Trojans guaranteed that with a 4-1 win over TJ Tuesday. The win gave Auburn (9-0) the division title and moved the Raiders to 7-2.
Jefferson’s lone win came from Krista Nakamura and Melissa Greenheck at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, 6-4.
The Raiders fought back to snag a 4-1 win over Auburn Riverside Wednesday. Jefferson’s wins came from Breanna Ziccarelli at No. 1 singles, Cindy park at No. 2, Amanda Ziccarelli and Nichelle Song at No. 1 doubles and Nakamura and Greenheck at No. 2 doubles.
Beamer
The Titans ended the regular season 5-5 with a loss to Auburn Riverside Tuesday, 3-2.
Beamer’s wins came from Lindsey Tyson at No. 2 singles and Julia Guo and Taylor Lunka at No. 2 doubles.
BASEBALL
Federal Way
The Eagles (14-4 overall), who finished third at last year’s Class 4A state tournament, will take on the Kentwood Conquerors at 4 p.m. at Kent Memorial Park on Friday, May 6 at the SPSL Tournament. The two teams both finished second in their respective divisions of the SPSL.
The winner will be the league’s third seed into the West Central/Southwest District Tournament, which will kick off Tuesday. The loser will be the fourth seed.
Decatur
The Gators finished up in fifth place in the SPSL 3A Division with a 6-8 record after losing three-straight to end the regular season. Decatur will take on Highline at 3:30 p.m. at Mosier Park in Burien on Friday, May 6, at the 3A Sub-district Tournament in a loser-out game. Highline finished third in the Seamount League. The winner will take on Bonney Lake (SPSL 3) at 4 p.m. at Auburn Mountainview Saturday, May 7, in a seeding game.
The Gators lost to Bonney Lake Monday, 8-1, and were swept by Enumclaw in a double-header Tuesday. Decatur lost the opener, 12-0, and Enumclaw won in the nightcap, 15-10.
Brett Johnson finished 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs in the second game and Chris Carns was 3 for 4.
Jefferson
The Raiders (6-12 overall, 5-11 SPSL North) picked up a 10-8 win over the Kent-Meridian Royals Tuesday in their season finale.
Steven Sonnenfeld finished 4 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs and Brauli Torres-Perez was 2 for 4 with a run and RBI for Jefferson.
