Sparling enters race for Park’s city council seat

Political newcomer Scott Sparling filed as a candidate for Federal Way City Council position 3. Sparling is owner of GiggleWorks, an entertainment company based in Federal Way.

“I believe that city government needs to become more accessible and responsive to the citizens of Federal Way,” said Sparling, a 24-year resident of Federal Way, in a news release. “I know that I can help provide that contact with the people. I want to listen, hear and understand what our neighbors have to say, and actively be part of the solution to make us all feel heard and significant in our own city.”

Roger Flygare and Susan Honda will also run for city council position 3 held by Mike Park, who will not seek re-election. With three candidates so far in this race, a primary election will be required. The 2011 primary election is Aug. 16, and the 2011 general election is Nov. 8.
