The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
Man punches woman: At 1:57 a.m. on Sept. 28 in the 30600 block of Pacific Highway S., a man was arrested for punching a woman multiple times at View at the Lake Apartments.
Prowler caught in act: At 5:52 a.m. on Sept. 28 in the 33800 block of 38th Place SW, a man was arrested after he was caught prowling a man’s vehicle. He was detained by the victim until police arrived and sent him to SCORE jail. A tool grinder and steel wire were recovered as evidence.
Police find heroin: At 5 a.m. on Sept. 28 in the 3800 block of SW 338th Place, a 23-year-old man was arrested after a man detained him for breaking into his trailer. The man told police he was sorry and that he was not a bad person. Police later searched him and found a syringe and a small bag of .32 grams of heroin in his front pants pocket.
Doctor reports sex offense: At 11:47 a.m. on Sept. 28 in the 2200 SW 337th Place, a doctor called to report a possible sex offense against his 16-year-old patient that may have occurred over the summer.
Paraphernalia found on man: At 1:23 p.m. on Sept. 28 in the 1900 block of S. 314th St., a 20-year-old man was arrested for possessing a glass and plastic pipe. Loss prevention reported the man was acting destructive in the office, throwing things and using aggressive profanity. After police detained him, they found the paraphernalia and he later admitted to using drugs.
Elderly woman burglarized: At 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 28 in the 1000 block of S. 302nd St., a 77-year-old woman hysterically reported her home was burglarized with more than $5,000 worth of items stolen. The burglar broke in through her bedroom window while she was at church and stole a TV, her gold jewelry collection, a coin collection, four diamond watches, five diamond rings, a diamond necklace, a gold pocket watch, a checkbook, a friend’s iPad and some of her medication. Her bedroom had also been ransacked with two bloody shirts left on her bed. The woman’s neighbor said she saw two men in their early 20s with dark skin run from the house. She also said the vehicle was an early 90s Chevrolet Cavalier with two tones — turquoise on top and silver on the bottom. Police seized the bloody shirts and the piece of glass with fingerprints as evidence.
Dog bites woman: At 3:26 p.m. on Sept. 28 in the 30500 block of Eighth Ave. S., a dog was put on home confinement for 15 days and issued a written warning after it bit a woman outside of St. Vincent de Paul church. The woman, who spoke little English, and her friend walked past the dog owner and his two dogs as he held them away for them to pass. But one of his dogs pulled free and lunged at the woman, biting her. The woman sustained a scratch and puncture wound on the inside of her arm. Police determined the dog had been up to date on his rabies vaccinations, was licensed and had received obedience training.
Animal locked in car for hours: At 2:51 a.m. on Sept. 27 in the 34800 block of Pacific Highway S., police responded to a report of an animal locked in a blue 2012 Honda for four hours at a McDonalds parking lot. Police seized the animal when the owner could not be located and placed it in a kennel. The pet will go to Animal Control.
Money stolen from paralyzed man: At 1:11 p.m. on Sept 27 in the 33300 block of 18th Lane S., a 57-year-old paralyzed man reported $300 missing from his wallet, which initially had $600 in it. Although he doesn’t have proof, he believes his aid workers, who are the only ones with access to it, stole the money.
Stepmom calls cop on biological mom: At 9 a.m. on Sept. 27 in the 33900 block of Ninth Ave. SW, a stepmother reported that her 11-year-old stepson and 8-year-old step daughter were being abused by their biological mother. In July, Child Protective Services had responded because the girl disclosed to a counselor that she was being chased and belted by her mother and that her brother had intervened to prevent the assault. But the stepmother recently called police because she saw their mom swearing and pushing her son in the parking lot of Saghalie Middle School park after they watched a soccer game. The mother denied the assault and the children appeared fine when a welfare check was performed at their home.
Witness calls out child molestation: At 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the 2200 block of S. Commons, Target employees mistakenly reported a man was molesting a child. He initially shoved a man, thought to be a child by a witness, because he believed he threw money at him. The witness shouted that the guy was “assaulting a child” and was overheard by several people, which caused the inaccurate belief.
Girl abused: At 7:44 p.m. on Sept. 26 in the 20th block of S. 338th Place, Child Protective Services was called to a home for child abuse against an 11-year-old girl.
