From Mirror staff reports:
Georgene Holland of Algona recently told The Mirror a cautionary tale about a scammer in Federal Way.
Around 4:30 p.m. Nov. 12, a friendly man engaged her and her husband, Roy, at the Barnes and Noble near 312th Street and Pacific Highway. The man claimed he previously worked on the couple’s vehicle, and with the help of another man, ultimately conned the couple out of $100 on the spot by claiming to paint the vehicle’s scratches. The Hollands, both in their late 80s, felt pressured by the man’s phony scheme and are glad they didn’t let him follow them home as he suggested.
Georgene wanted to warn Federal Way seniors about similar con artists, and avoid giving personal information to such people. She said the suspect was of Middle Eastern descent and drove a big new-looking white truck.
