Following is a sample from the Federal Way Grinch … er, police log:
• Foiled Grinch: At 1:31 p.m. Dec. 24 in the 2000 block of South 320th Street, the suspect was seen by numerous witnesses attempting to prowl vehicles. According to the report, a number of witnesses chased the man down and attempted to detain him. The man brandished a butterfly knife and kept the crowd at bay. The police were able to later apprehend and arrest the man at another location.
• Grinch #1: At 2:46 a.m. Dec. 25 in the 1800 block of SW 308th Place, the victim reported their residence had been burglarized. According to the report, a PlayStation 3 and a number of games were stolen. The unknown suspect made entry through a bedroom window, and left through the victim’s sliding glass door.
• Grinch #2: At 11:51 a.m. Dec. 25 in the 35000 block of 16th Avenue South, the victim reported their vehicle had been broken into. According to the report, $550 worth of Christmas gifts were stolen from the vehicle. The victim was adamant the vehicle was locked, and there were no signs of forced entry into the vehicle.
• Grinch #3: At 2:03 p.m. Dec. 25 in the 2000 block of South 298th Street, the victim reported their house had been burglarized. According to the report, a 47-inch TV and a 42-inch TV with a combined value of $2,500 were stolen, along with $2,000 worth of clothing.
• Grinch #4: At 7:03 p.m. Dec. 25 in the 35000 25th Avenue SW, the victim reported his car had been broken into. A GPS device and a jacket were stolen. The two items had a total value of about $75.
• Grinch #5: At 9:17 p.m. Dec. 25 in the 28000 block of 25th Place South, a woman reported her house had been burglarized. According to the report, two laptop computers and a Nintendo Wii were stolen, totaling $1,230.
• Grinch #6: At 1:09 a.m. Dec. 25 in the 32000 block of 1st Lane SW, police responded to a call about two men attempting to gain entry into vehicles. According to the report, the duo successfully broke into one vehicle, and took a Dickies brand diaper bag and change purse, which had a combined value of $110. The two men also took $30 worth of CDs from the vehicle.
• Don’t you just love family: At 4:34 p.m. Dec. 25 in the 300 block of South 304th Place, police responded to calls of a verbal argument between two women. According to the report, the two are sisters. Both of them have children, with one of the sisters visiting for the holiday. Their children got unruly, and an argument began between them about the kids.
• Man allegedly kills dog: On Dec. 24 in the 31000 block of 10th Ct. SW, police responded to a call of a violation of a no-contact order. According to the report, the victim also indicated the suspect had killed their family dog. The police confirmed the no-contact violation, and did discover a dead dog’s body in a dog crate at the location where the suspect was sleeping.
• Harassing phone calls: At 2:12 a.m. Dec. 23 in the 1700 block of South 281st Place, a man called to report another man had been repeatedly making threatening calls to him. The suspect was contacted by police and told to never contact the victim again, and that if he did, he would be charged with telephone harassment. A record of this incident was forwarded to the suspect’s employer, the Department of Homeland Security.
