The Federal Way Knights 13-under baseball team traveled to Omaha, Neb. to compete in the Triple Crown Sports Slumpbuster Tournament June 23-26. The tournament is billed as the “World’s Largest Youth Baseball Tournament.”
Forty-eight teams from around the country competed in the tournament and the Knights finished up in an impressive second place. The Knights were 7-0 going into the championship game, defeating teams from Illinois, Utah, Colorado, Missouri and Washington. The Knights lost in the title game to a team from Madison, Ala.
The Slumpbuster tournament coincided with the College World Series, where the Knights were able to enjoy several games.
The players making up the Knights team were Brycen Allen, JJ Asinas, Robbie Bernovich, Mason DeLaCruz, Andrew Ellingson, Kaden Jacobs, Tanner Knapp, Christopher Micheles, Tyler Mick, Jordan O’Connor, Tyler Swanson and Michael Ziccarelli. The coaches of the team include Ken Allen, Guy Bernovich, Shaun Mick and Patrick O’Connor.
